Egypt During the Reign of Akhenaton Amarna   Tell El-Amarna was called Akhetaten. Today the local village of El-Till is nearby. The ancient name of Akhetaten, "the horizon of the solar disk".is very similar to the meaning of Amun -"Dwelt at Thebes", Akhenaten offered this place to be the home for his god. The Tomb of Ay at Tel el Amarna Here Akhenaton and his court lived - palaces and temples were built and tombs for the courtiers and the royal family existed.   Back
