I received news from Bill Howells that Willie Koen, whose health had been deteriorating for some time, passed away in South Africa early in April after suffering a heart attack. Willie joined the Department around 64/65 as a ranger with his first station being the "Copper Queen," the tsetse ops "HQ" for Mashonoland north. Willie, if my memory serves me correctly, spent some time at Ngezi with his final posting being that of Warden Management Wankie. He resigned from the Department in the late '70's (1977?) Billy Howells spent some time with Willie a few weeks before his death and notes that it was quality time with both them doing a great deal of reminiscing.
