Dagaboys Roll of Honour

Dagaboys Gone Forever

Tommy Orford 09 May 2004 It's with a great deal of sadness that I must advise you that Tommy Orford passed away today in the Mater Dei Hospital shortly after noon. Two weeks ago I spent a half an hour or so with Tom sitting on the little veranda of his cottage enjoying the warmth of sun and chatting about things in general. When I saw Tommy last Sunday he was in bed, very restless and certainly out of sorts. From mid week I visited him daily, on Friday I became alarmed at the very sudden deterioration in his health . To cut a long story short he was admitted to the Mater Dei Intesive Care Unit yesterday. Tommy died of renal or kidney failure. Tommy or "Kamchacha"as he was known was one the Department's real characters, dubbed "Peter Pan" by some during Operation Noah he will be remembered for his intense love of wildlife and dogs, particulary "Jack Rusells." To Tommy's family - Bryan and Paddy his two sons, his brother Ken and his sister Sheila we offer our deepest sympathies. As his family will be gathering in Bulawayo messages of condolences can be sent either via my email address or direct to Bryan on bryanbush@telconnect.co.zw The time and date of the funeral / memorial service will be advised - Tommy's funeral will be held at the Bulawayo Baptist Church (George Selindika and 2nd Street) at 3pm this Wednesday afternoon the 12th. Following the service there will be tea served at the church. The "wake" will be at 39A Moffat Avenue Hillside.
